Balaams Wood is 6.5 acres of ancient woodland on the edge of the Frankley estate, between Rubery Lane and New Street.
Our group help to maintain
the wood, the adjoining grassland and the balancing lake on the
Birmingham Great Park development. This area is home to many species
of wildflowers, birds and insects.

The groups activities
include clean-ups, surveys, projects with local play schemes and
much more ! Everyone is very welcome so why not come along and make
some new friends !
We have also been granted funding from
the Community Network South West for the Friends of Balaams Wood to
set up a project helping ex MG Rover
workers and other jobseekers to develop new skills. Courses will be free and will
offer an accreditation. The courses will be provided by the
British Trust for Conservation Volunteers and will be around
creating fishing pegs and a wildlife island on the lake at Great
Park. Anyone interested should contact Penny 453 3396 or Beth
447 7106 for details.

Our future plans include gaining Local Nature Reserve status for Balaams Wood
and the adjoining grassland..
All activities are free; we are friendly and informal, so why not come along and join us, everyone is welcome.
